Woolwich Information Centre opens

DLR is one step closer to Woolwich with the opening of the new DLR Information Centre. Located at 14 Beresford Square in the heart of Woolwich town centre, customer service staff are on hand to answer any questions about the DLR and the new station.

Tunnel extending Docklands Light Railway to Woolwich completed

The tunnel extending the Dockland Light Railway under the River Thames to Woolwich Arsenal was completed on time today as the 540-tonne boring machine broke through the earth south of the Thames.

The Mayor of London Ken Livingstone today started the tunnelling that will form a major part of the £180m Docklands Light Railway (DLR) Woolwich Arsenal extension.

DLR signals latest phase of Woolwich Arsenal Extension

Docklands Light Railway (DLR), part of Transport for London (TfL), today began the preparatory work for the tunnelling that will form the 2.5km, £180m Woolwich Arsenal extension.

A state-of-the-art 540-tonne boring machine was lowered into a launch chamber in North Woolwich in preparation for construction of the rail link, which will run at depths of up to 35m under the River Thames.

Olympic Boost For London As Work Begins On DLR Woolwich Extension

London's bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games received a huge boost today (13 June) when the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone and Transport Minister, Karen Buck marked the start of work on the Docklands Light Railway extension to Woolwich Arsenal.

DLR Signs Contract For Extension To Woolwich Arsenal

Docklands Light Railway Ltd (DLRL), part of Transport for London (TfL), has today finalised the contract with the appointed concessionaire for the construction of the Extension to Woolwich Arsenal. The project forms part of TfL's five-year investment programme through a 30 year concession contract with Woolwich Arsenal Rail Enterprises (WARE), a consortium formed by AMEC and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

A preferred bidder has been selected

A preferred bidder was appointed in December 2004 and the contract will be finalised by May 2005 with construction starting in summer 2005.

Four Bid to Build Woolwich

Docklands Light Railway Ltd (DLRL) - part of Transport for London (TfL) - today announced that it has completed the pre-qualification stage in the competition to appoint a Concessionaire to design, finance, build, maintain and make available the Woolwich Extension.

Government Approves DLR Woolwich Extension

Tony McNulty, Minister for Transport today announced Department for Transport approval of the submission under the Transport and Works Act for the extension of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to Woolwich Arsenal.

Another step towards Woolwich for DLR

Docklands Light Railway Ltd has issued a notice in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) calling for expressions of interest in the construction of the proposed extension to Woolwich, south London.
