The 6km Stratford International extension is now under construction, converting the North London Line (NLL) between Stratford and Canning Town to DLR operation. Four new stations will be built on the route – Stratford International, Stratford High Street, Abbey Road, and Star Lane, in addition to the conversion of the former North London Line stations at Canning Town, West Ham and Stratford to DLR operation.
North of Stratford the DLR line will be extended to Stratford International. Three different alignment options were studied, and a route has been selected which runs around the Stratford City development parallel with the High Meads loop.
As part of the works, DLR has provided London Overground with new platforms at Stratford station. These platforms opened in April 2009, and DLR has started work to redevelop the old London Overground platforms for DLR use.
