Docklands Light Railway - Stratford International Extension

Option Development

The 6km Stratford International extension will be constructed by converting the North London Line (NLL) between Stratford and Canning Town to DLR operation. Four new stations will be constructed on the route – Stratford International, Stratford High Street, Abbey Road, and Star Lane.

North of Stratford the DLR line will be extended to the Channel Tunnel Rail Link station. Three different alignment options were previously studied, and a route has been selected which runs around the Stratford City development parallel with the High Meads loop.

DLR is providing new North London Line platforms at Stratford Station. The section of North London Line between Stratford and North Woolwich stopped operating in December 2006.

The North London Line stations at North Woolwich and Silvertown are permanently closed. However these areas are served by new DLR stations at London City Airport and King George V on the new London City Airport DLR extension. The existing North London Line continues to operate between Richmond and Stratford.
