Skip to navigationTransport, Environment & Regeneration
The new three-car trains will provide many benefits to passengers and local residents including:
- Providing much-needed additional public transport capacity to and from the Isle of Dogs;
- Allowing more passengers to access employment opportunities and services along the route corridor. The enhancement will result in an estimated 16,200 additional DLR passengers being able to travel to Docklands within the morning peak period from 7.00 am – 10.00 am. The upgrade works will also create construction jobs in the local area;
- Enhancing passenger comfort and accommodating future demand, by increasing on-board capacity by 50 per cent;
- Continuing to facilitate sustainable growth in the Docklands. Enhanced accessibility will act as a catalyst, bringing forward planned development in the area at an accelerated rate whilst reducing social exclusion barriers.
