Next Stage of DLR's Capacity Enhancement Project

Docklands Light Railway is planning to submit a Transport and Works Act Order application for its £130 million capacity enhancement project by the end of February. If the application is approved, work could start in 2007.

Planning for the future - Increasing capacity on the DLR network

Docklands Light Railway Limited (DLRL) is proposing to increase the capacity of the DLR line between Bank and Lewisham. The preferred option is to introduce longer trains.

Planning for the future - Increasing capacity on the DLR network

Docklands Light Railway Limited (DLRL) is proposing to increase the capacity of the DLR line between Bank/Tower Gateway and Lewisham. The preferred option is to introduce longer trains.

DLR Public Inquiry closes.

The Public Inquiry into Docklands Light Railway's plans to significantly improve capacity by upgrading to a three-car service between Bank and Lewisham was closed by the Independent Inspector on 29 March following an adjournment on 3 March. The £125 million project, funded by Transport for London's five-year £10 billion Investment Programme, includes procurement of 18 new vehicles, expansion of the depot at Beckton and construction of a new station at South Quay.

DLR three car trains move forward

There was good news today for DLR passengers as a multi-million pound project to run three-car trains to increase capacity on the network had its Transport and Works Act Application formally approved by Government.

Extra carriage on every DLR train

Transport for London has awarded a £200m contract to Taylor Woodrow to upgrade the Docklands Light Railway so an extra carriage can be added to its trains.

Revamped Tower Gateway station opens early

Docklands Light Railway (DLR) today (Monday 2 March) reopened its refurbished Tower Gateway station, two months ahead of schedule.

DLR finalises three-car upgrade funds for London 2012 Games and beyond

DLR has confirmed funding for an £18.2m upgrade which will increase capacity by 50 percent on its Beckton route in time for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

DLR Station 'moves' at the weekend

An extraordinary feat of engineering on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) has effectively moved a whole station without any disruption to passengers.
South Quay station closed on Friday evening and a state-of-the-art replacement opened this morning 125 metres away, after being tested over the weekend.
