Docklands Light Railway - Limehouse Station Improvements

Background

Limehouse station is a busy interchange between DLR and c2c services. Many people change from c2c trains to DLR during the morning peak as part of a journey to Canary Wharf or the Isle of Dogs.

This means passengers have to walk down stairs from the west bound c2c platforms, walk to the DLR station and climb the stairs to the east bound DLR platform.

We want to make your journey easier

The west bound c2c platform and the east bound DLR platform lie side by side and in close proximity to each other. DLR and c2c are proposing to build a bridge to link the two platforms. This will make interchanging between the two platforms more convenient, accessible and faster for passengers.

Benefits of the new bridge

Other upgrade works for Limehouse DLR station

Major improvements are planned for the Limehouse DLR station during 2008. This is part of the DLR Investment Programme works where the station will be upgraded to allow 3-car length trains to operate. The DLR platforms will be lengthened towards the eastern end of the station and additional staircases and lifts will be built to provide access to the eastern side of Branch Road.

The planned interchange link bridge is intended to be built at the same time as the Investment Programme works and is expected to be completed by the end of 2008.

There will be minimal disruption to neighbouring residents and passengers as most of the work can be undertaken either during engineering hours or during the day behind hoardings. Passengers will still be able to interchange between c2c and DLR services as normal until the new bridge link is opened.
