Docklands Light Railway - Langdon Park
During 2001 and 2002, three community consultation events were organised by Consarc Consulting Architects and Docklands Light Railway.
They were held at:
- The Teviot Centre on 11 December 2001
- Lansbury Lodge on 15th January 2002
- Langdon Park School on 05th March 2002
A total of 100 people attended the 3 events with 43 at the first event, 8 at the second and 49 at the final exhibition. Of those that did attend the first evening several made the effort to see the final exhibition.
Whilst the total number represents a small minority of the total households in the area the following additional consultation awareness programme was run:
- Over 3500 households were leafleted (with 4 language translations) increasing awareness of the proposals and giving comments contacts at DLR and giving opportunity to comment
- Large posters of the design were posted in the Local Chrisp Street Market and Sommerfield’s with contact details for feedback
- A specific Langdon Park Station website area was launched with contact details for further enquiries
- 2 full page adverts of the design and consultation events were published in the local Poplar newspapers
- The local papers ran several editorial articles
The early consultation events discussed the principles of a station location, its concept and a wish list of items that should be incorporate. An updated consultation event was held at the Teviot Neighbourhood Centre on 6th October 2005 where the latest revisions to the original proposals were presented. The event was advertised via a mail drop of approximately 5,000 leaflets to key local centres and homes.
