As part of the DLR Yourailway campaign, which seeks to enhance approaches to DLR stations, a number of public realm improvements were identified for the Drew Road tunnel entrance to London City Airport station. The entrance is an important entry point for local residents both into the station and London City Airport.

Planned improvements include:

A prominent feature of the improvements will be a public art installation by artist Paul Morrison, who has been appointed to produce a permanent artwork that will be integrated within the tunnel. The artist has worked with Year 5 pupils from Drew Primary School to help create ideas and images for the design of the artwork. More information can be found here

The works are a continuation of public realm improvements to the wider area undertaken by the London Borough of Newham, which includes a new children’s play area and a multi-use games area (MUGA). The delivery of public realm improvements at Drew Road entrance will specifically help improve the quality of the environment in and around the station entrance.
