Docklands Light Railway - West India Quay/Poplar Junction ImprovementsWest India Quay junction is now in use during peak periods, improving frequencies and journey times through this busy location.

Construction work is now complete at the West India Quay junction and the new flyunder is in use and running well. The flyunder provides a dedicated route for trains from Bank to Lewisham during peak periods, bypassing West India Quay station.

The flyunder is used by these trains between 6.09am-9.36am, and 3.39pm-7.06pm on weekdays.

Canary Wharf and Poplar stations are alternative stops for passengers alighting from trains originating from Bank during these times. All other services will continue to stop at West India Quay.

The improved junction will:

Work on the junctionsincluded:
Strengthening columns to allow three-carriage trains to operate and building a new fly-under track to allow more trains to run through this busy location in the future

Delta Junction Upgrade

The Delta Junction is the point where a number of DLR routes meet just to the north of West India Quay station. The junction’s previous layout placed a restriction on the frequency of DLR services that could operate. Changing the layout of the tracks at the junction has improved operations and will allow more trains to run through the area.

To achieve this, a new track was routed below the current junction, enabling trains from Bank to pass trains running from Lewisham and Canary Wharf to Poplar at the same time without stopping to give way.
