When complete, the improved station will have a horseshoe style platform, allowing passengers to get on and off at different sides of the train, making it easier and faster to board and alight, reduce congestion and improve station dwell times.

These works will allow three-carriage trains with 50 per cent more capacity to use this station, making journeys more comfortable by providing more room on trains and on the platforms.
