The 5km extension from Canning Town to Stratford International is now in the final stages of construction. It will open to the public in Summer 2011, well ahead of the London 2012 Games and provide a lasting legacy to East London.
The route uses a section of track which was formerly part of the North London line and includes four brand new stations:
- Star Lane
- Stratford High Street
- Abbey Road
- Stratford International
Three former North London line stations have also been converted for DLR operation at Canning Town, West Ham and Stratford.
As part of the works, DLR provided London Overground with new platforms at Stratford station in April 2009.
