The DLR station at Shadwell has benefited from a number of improvement projects in recent years. The station concourse, arches and outside environment have been refurbished, details of the project can be found here. The stations platforms have also been lengthened to allow the operation of three-car trains, more details of this project can be found here.
The number of passengers using Shadwell station has been growing as these improvements have been delivered. Since the London Overground station opened at Shadwell in 2010 the number of passengers interchanging between the DLR and Overground has also contributed to a growth in passengers using Shadwell station.
There was only one set of stairs which take passengers from the station concourse to the platform. The Shadwell Platform Access project provided an additional stair from the concourse to platforms, beside the existing stair.
